Gardening Jobs For March?

Here a few tips for March on the allotment:
π₯¦π₯π₯ Vegetables:
β’ Sow early cauliflower, broccoli, celery and broad beans under cover.
β’ Make up new horseradish and seakale beds, either with new plants, or divisions of old.
β’ Sow spinach, carrots and earliest potatoes in very sheltered position, or under cloches.

πππFruit:
β’ This is the last window for planting new strawberry beds.
β’ Peach, apricots or nectarines blossom can be destroyed by frosts, so cover briefly with fleece or similar when frost is forecast.
β’ Check ties on all newly planted fruit trees.

π Greenhouse:
β’ Carefully ventilate to avoid fungal problems./
β’ If you have a heated greenhouse or polytunnel, sow tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, melons, and aubergines.
β’ Keep seedlings as close to the glass as possible to prevent legginess.

πΈ Flowers:
β’ Plant out autumn sown sweet peas directly in sheltered plots.
β’ Bring dahlias out of storage, pot up and move to greenhouse.
β’ Sow hardy annuals direct into prepared soil in sheltered plots β great for attracting pollinating insects
